So we are supposed to practice social distancing and not touch anything or anyone including our own faces. What to do now? Humans need interaction so today we're touching everyone virtually through music, doing all the things they say we should not be doing right now. If it's about touching, post it-- of course our site rules still apply so no porn, religion or politics please. Now come give us a hug! Dance with us, give us a kiss.........whatevs. Hope everyone is getting by okay and hunkering down with loved ones. Now's a good time to catch up with relatives and friends who live far away. Phone them or text them and see how they're doing. In Canada our phone company is waiving all long distance charges across the country. Very nice. Reach out and touch someone....
Post your songs that go with the theme or just post your favorite videos, gifs and pics.. Feel free to sing along and dance!!! You know you want to!!! I'm guessing that many of us are sequestered in our homes. It's can become easy to go stir crazy unless we keep our wits and humor. Look around the room you're in and use the objects you see as keywords for posting songs Or, post songs that are humorous. As usual, we are OPEN THREAD.
The whole point is to post songs you like, have a good time and let your troubles melt away. Hey there, Triple V! I hope ya'll are safe and taking care. I know things are crazy right now, but we're gonna keep on doin' what we do here. I thought we could all use a "nothin" thread tonight. Lord knows, my brain is fried (too many trips to the garage...LOL). This is a classic rock channel, so lets play some classic rock!
If we can't go out and enjoy ourselves because of some dumb ole virus going around, don't let it stop you from having fun. Slide on by VVV for some food, drinks, and my favorite pastime Scrable Rocks! For those of you who have never played this Rockin' game with us before, it's really simple. I will radomly draw 7 letters plus a bonus letter and from those letters find words that are in titles of songs, band or artist names, or names of albums to share. Ok, let me draw today's letters........ Today's randomly drawn letters are: A-Y-D-E-L-R-I and bonus letter F Play songs like these....... Album - Are You Experienced Band - Elf Song Title - Fly Like An Eagle If playin' Scrabble Rocks ain't your thing, I can dig that! Do not fret, VVV is always an open thread. Please have fun and follow VVV's Golden Rules. PLEASE RECOMMEND
The festivities may have been cancelled by the snakes who run the government but we can still kick up a ruckus here. So let's have a wee bit of the creature, bring out the songs and the blarney, and spend the next twenty-four hours channeling our Rock 'N' Roll Paddys. That means playing songs by Irish musicians if you wish, or simply playing songs that put a glide in your stride and a twinkle in your eye. And if you want to blow off a little steam, there are some songs for that too. "May you always have a clean shirt, a clear conscience, and enough coins in your pocket to buy a pint!" Please Recommend Hey everyone. Today let’s get to the point. Let’s find some music from the 1970s! The decade where rock continued to evolve, bell bottoms reigned supreme, and uh, disco! Saturday Night Fever! Stars Wars! Little House on The Prairie! The Godfather! Magic Johnson and Larry Bird! Watergate! I think we got the picture. Lol If you’re just not into that decade, that’s cool too. We are always an open thread. Enjoy!
The Ides of March was a day in the Roman calender that corresponds to 15 March. It was marked by several religious observances and was notable for the Romans as a deadline for settling debts. In 44 BC, it became notorious as the date of the assassination of Julius Caesar which made the Ides of March a turning point in Roman history. The Romans did not number days of a month from the first to the last day. They had some funky way of counting their days, that we are not going to get into. Originally the Ides were supposed to be determined by the full moon, reflecting the lunar origin of the Roman calender. In the earliest calendar, the Ides of March would have been the first full moon of the new year. Go figure that one out! The Ides of each month were sacred to Jupitar, the Romans' supreme deity. Involving a high priest and a sheep shepherd in a procession that led to a sacrifice. In addition to the monthly sacrifice, the Ides of March was also the occasion of the Feast of Anna Perenna, a goddess of the year, celebrated amongst the common folk with eating, drinking, and partying! To help us along with this theme, here are some Keywords: Assassination , Kill , Murder , Before , Christ , Day , Drink(including Wine, Beer, Water, and Milk) , Drunk , Eat , Feast , God , Goddess , High , Priest , Jupitar , Julius Caesar , Knife , Knives , March , Moon , Month , Party , Pray , Roman , Sacrifice , Sheep , Shepherd , Numbers- One , Five , Four , Fourty. If celebrating the murder of a Roman statesman isn't your thing, I can dig that! Do not fret, VVV is always an open thread. Meaning, post whatever Rock & Roll you wish to share. Or just come on in and relax, say hello to some friends, and check out all the killer tunes being posted by our resident Rock-A-Holics. One last thing before we take care of Caesar. Please have fun and follow VVV's Golden Rules. PLEASE RECOMMEND I know you've all been out to stores in the last couple days and we silly humans are at it again- unnecessarily freaking out and hoarding non-perishables and in particular, toilet paper and bottled water. The Corona virus has us all a little on edge because of the unknown but we need to relax. We'll get through it. You don't need to stockpile toilet paper and water even if you can find any. The virus doesn't cause diarrhea and i don't think our water's being shut off anytime soon. LOL If your parents or neighbors are elderly offer to pick up a few grocery items or prescriptions for them so they don't have to go out. Thinking of and helping others in these times keeps us focused on what is important. Phone an old friend or relative you haven't talked to in a while. Be the reason someone else feels calm during this 'storm'. Today we need to have a laugh and listen to some good tunes to distract ourselves and to keep from overreacting. Let's post songs about chaos, impending doom and how we're gonna get through it all . We can also post songs about staying calm, strength, grace under pressure and standing strong. Post funny songs and videos. Let's roll with it. Post music that makes you feel good. Bob knows..... that old time rock n roll .........just soothes the soul. Share your tips on how you're getting through all the school closings, concert and sports event cancellations etc. Post memes about the pandemic and people's reactions to it... while following our no religion or politics rules of course. Today as always we are open thread so if the theme is harshin' your mellow, just post your favorite tunes, pics and gifs. We'd love to see them. It's not the end of the world my friends. Everything's alright. The fear of Friday the 13th is called friggatriskaidekaphobia. Frigg is the Norse goddess whom Friday is named after and triskaidekaphobia means the fear of 13. It's also known as paraskevidekatriaphobia, which is based on the Greek word for Friday. Here’s some weird superstitions of some Rock n Rollers Rocker Meat Loaf is a big and beefy kind of guy, who just happens to have a collection of teddy bears. Teddy bears? Anyway, he will not, just will not, travel unless his beloved teddies Mani and Marietta are there with him. OK, reportedly he also believes his teddies can come alive. The Bat Out of Hell star insists the bears get backstage passes, and also maintains that their facial expressions change. The Gun N' Roses front man (and only original band member) has had a turbulent, controversial kind of life. Periodically, he has disappeared from sight, and was recently the subject of a death hoax. No, Axl Rose is alive, if not well. His superstition is fittingly weird: He believes the letter "M" is evil, or cursed, or whatever, and he refuses to perform in a city that begins with "M". Additionally, he reportedly travels with a psychic and believes that he and former girlfriend Stephanie, were lovers in previous lives. To top it all off, his ex-wife has gotten up in court and said he believes he is possessed by Led Zeppelin's John Bonham. Okay, that's probably enough. Keith Richards was named by Rolling Stone, as the 4th best guitarist of all time. But great or not, he has a food thing. Well, maybe a control thing. In spite of the Rolling Stones song "I Ain't Superstitious", Richards is just that. He insists on Shepherds Pie being served to him on tour. And what's more, he has to be the one to break the crust in his private "tuning" room backstage. If anyone else touches it, it's reportedly back to square one and a new pie must be produced. In fact, on one occasion, when someone else got to the pie first, Richards went into a flaming, booze-fueled fit and fired the group's head of security. Security for a Shepherds Pie? Other rituals? Keith has to have a snooker table set up backstage so he can play before each show. Robert Plant irons his shirts before performing, saying "I find ironing helps get me in the mood before I perform. I always have an ironing board in my room before I go on stage." Feel free to post some of your own superstitions.
