The way things are shaping up this week, Wednesday is going to be one of those crazy days, I can feel the static of madness in the air. All you'll have to do is turn on the idiot box or radio. It'll be coast to coast. So, to prepare us for the madness, doing a Wacky Wednesday thread is the right thing to do. In preparation for the lunacy, post songs who's lyrics, title, band or album names are funny odd or amusing. Also, post songs using Keywords, like these: Crazy , Deranged , Fun , Funny , Insane , Laugh(ing) , Lunatic , Mad , Manic, Maniac , Mental , Odd , Psycho , Silly , Wild , etc. If taking on a Wacked out Wednesday, aint your bag, I can dig that! Do not fret, VVV is always an open thread. Meaning, post any Rock songs you wish to share. Post funny memes, pics, or gifs. Tell us about your concert going experiences or just come on in to say hello to all us Rock-a-Holics. One last thing before we lose our minds. Please have fun and follow VVV's Golden Rules. PLEASE RECOMMEND
It rained all day long here in my part of the world which brought this classic blues song to mind. The full title is "Call It Stormy Monday (But Tuesday Is Just as Bad)". It was written by T-Bone Walker, who was also a pioneer of the electric blues guitar. So one of tonight's themes is rain. The other themes are the blues... All your favorite guitar pickers... And whatever else you feel like playing. Please Recommend! Howdy-Do, Triple V-ers. The weekend's come and gone again, the World is a mess, and I have gas. Crampy, bad gas. Most of my houseplants are wilted, I'm probably gonna have to repaint, and my neighbor called the coroner and asked him to check out my place to see if anyone died in here. Other than that I'm fine and I hope y'all are too. In spite of everything, I wanna have a good time and want you to have one too! Let's leave gloom-and-doom in the dust for a while and be happy! Let's kick up our heels like jolly escaped asses and throw down some positive, uplifting tunes! I'm looking for songs about good things happening or even bad things happening as long as the music's happy! Songs about love, good luck, old friends reunited, and songs with the words happy or good in the title count for Bonus Points, redeemable sometime in the far future. Novelty songs are welcome too. In short, any songs that make us all feel good or even LOL are the objective here. Luckily enough, our fairly flexible rules at VVV will enable you to respect one another and have a simply smashing time if they're followed, and we encourage you to do just that, S'il vous plait. Ooh la la, no? Oui oui! Alzo, ze Thread, she Open if you do not care to participate in ze festivities, or simply have some other Rock music you'd like to share. Please don't forget to tap the heart and Recommend us too, merci beaucoup.
Or better yet, THE night. Hey everyone. Let’s chill and post some songs about the night (or with just night in the title), or fitting songs you listen to at night. If you’re more of a day person, then blah blah blah open thread. Enjoy. :-)
I'm talking alchemy, transformation of people and things and all things metal and shiny especially gold and diamonds. Let's throw in chemicals and science as well. We're gonna post songs by bands with tonight's theme in their name... like........Silver Bullet Band. It's the weekend and it's Indian summer weather where I am. Gonna hit the lake this weekend and take a nice walk on the beach. Hope you all get outside and get some sun on your face and some wind in your hair, for those of you that have any hair left LOL-I've about pulled most of mine out waiting for summer and then poof!- it was gone so I'm gonna make the most of fall . If'n the theme doesn't interest you, just post your favorite rock n roll and enjoy some drama free chit chat with your fellow music lovers. Feel free to sing along and dance... you know you want to!!!
Howdy everybody, and welcome to Triple V! We humans were bangin' on logs long before we figured out how to put strings on 'em, and that's why the drums appeal to almost everybody. The drum kit is a uniquely American instrument. In the mid 1800s as America prospered, more theaters opened up and the orchestras in them needed at least three percussionists in the pit. The kit got its start in the late 1800s with a technique called "double drumming", where the percussionist would play a bass and snare drum separately with two sticks, thus eliminating one percussionist. Pretty sneaky, huh? Then in 1905, a New Orleans drummer by the name of Dee Dee Chandler patented a pedal for the bass drum using the foot (hence the term "kick drum") which freed-up the drummer's hands. Yikes! There goes another percussionist. The Ludwig brothers, William and Theobald, built a better pedal and got it on the market in 1909. From there the kits expanded with little percussive doo-dahs (called "traps") and cymbals, and then tom-toms were added too. The second big pedal-operated contraption (that's where the term 'traps' came from) was the "sock cymbal", aka "low sock" stand that allowed the drummer to use his other foot to open and close a pair of cymbals, further enhancing the sound of the kit and keeping even more time. The low sock , and they were low - impossible to play with the hands - eventually progressed into the upright hi-hat stand that all drummers use today, and the beat goes on... https://reverb.com/news/a-brief-history-of-the-drum-set It's all about the drums now! Solos, breaks, intros, and songs with awesome beats too! Big name drummers that don't usually do solos too, like Ringo and Charlie Watts - taste personified. If it gets too noisy for ya, this is an Open Thread so throw down some good Rock tunes that tickle your fancy and ours too. If you can't hear me over all of the racket, I'm asking you nicely to follow our rules, respect each other, and have a rockin' good time! Don't forget to Recommend us please, so more people show up next time and we can be even noisier.
Good evening, Triple V and happy "end of hump day!" We made it to the halfway point and I think we all deserve a little mental break. Tonight's thread is an easy one...to say the least. We're just looking for tunes that have a pronoun in the title.
Come on, folks. It doesn't get any easier than that! If you need a quick refresher course, here at Vintage Vinyl, we're here to help. Besides, I had to check for myself.
Let's all sit back, post up some good tunes and have fun. That's why we're all here, right? And if ya'll don't wanna play the Pronoun Game, then that's cool too! Follow the house rules and lemme hear what you've got. At Triple V, it's about the tunes, not the thread. This could be the last week to hit the beaches in my neck of the woods. Going to be sunny and warm towards the end of the week, so I am thinking of one more beach party to close out summer. Maybe some swimming, grilling, soaking up some sun and possibly a game of beach volleyball! While we are doing our thing at the Beach, take notice of all the things at the beach and things you can see from the beach. Post songs that have something you would see while at the beach. Things like: Airplane , Bikini , Clouds , Dog , Girls , Hotdog , Kite , Lagoon, Octopus , Rocks , Sand , Turtle , Umbrella , Venus , Water , Yellow Submarine , etc. Along with this idea, let's celebrate todays birthdays of some great musicians by playing anything they recorded: Ray Charles - Soul/Gospel Roy Buchanan - Blues Tony Hymas - Rock played with Jack Bruce and Jeff Beck Dan Toler - Allman Brothers Bruce Springsteen - E Street Band Virgil Howe - Yes (drummer and son of Steve Howe) If hanging out at the Beach ain't your bag, I can dig that! Do not fret, VVV is always an open thread. Meaning, post whatever Rock tunes you wish to share. No big deal, we're easy goin'. Post a funny meme, gif, or pic. Tell us of your favorite concert with all the dirty details. Hehehehehe don't be shy, we all been there. One last thing before we hit the beach. Please remember to have fun and follow VVV's Golden Rules. PLEASE RECOMMEND Autumn will officially begin tomorrow morning at 9:31 EDT, so I thought we could post songs about those things that are associated with the season... the changing color of leaves, the migratory birds that will soon fly south, the harvest, bonfires and the beginning of hunting season, to name a few. Let's say goodbye to summer, and give a nod to winter and spring too. And while we're at it, let's include songs about change and songs about time... days, months, minutes and hours. As always, it's an open thread at The Triple V, so if you're not into these themes then play whatever you're in the mood to hear. |
