I debated which way i wanted to celebrate the year ending. I could have said let's let it all out--let's rip 2020 another one by posting our loudest and most ornery rampage rock OR I could have said let's post positive and hopeful songs and start the year off with with a smile. I think we can do both. If we reflect on this year, we have all been through hell and as the song says we just kept going and we got through it relatively unscathed. We should be proud of that. I'm sure we all learned something about ourselves this year and some of us may have used the time to learn a new skill or find a new hobby or just reconnect with friends and family and traditions-- at a safe distance of course LOL. So let's burn down the rest of 2020 with a party and get ready to kick some 2021 a$$.. I'm confident that before long we can get back to somewhat 'normal' and i won't have to fear answering the door in case its the cast from Hoarders wanting to see my bum wad and cheetohs stash LOLOL... ( I hit Costco again last night I'm ashamed to say) I want to thank all the folks who drop in here and keep us somewhat sane with your tunes and chit chat. It means a lot to have a place to go that's drama free and a place we can let our hair down-what hair we haven't pulled out this year. Time to say goodbye to 2020 and bring on 2021.. buh bye 2020--YOU GOT IT!!!!!!!!! So Happy New Year Everyone.. Wishing you all a healthy, joyous, prosperous and love filled 2021 and beyond.... Tonight we party.

Good evening ya'll! You know what? All this "sheltering in place" has left some of us...well...how do I put this delicately? Ummm...let's just say our jeans are a bit tighter. How do we fix that? We get our butts up off the couch and MOVE! That's right! JUMP Maybe DANCING is yer thang!
Come on lazy bones! Let fire up our metabolism and...hehehe...who am I kidding? It's the holidays and I'm lucky if I can STAND Whew...OK...that's enough. I'm sure you've figured out tonight's thread. Gimme all the tunes you've got that are about moving your body or even just a part of your body. Doesn't matter how. And if you really don't wanna get up and go...then sit right down and play whatever you like. We don't judge. All we ask is that you follow the house rules and be cool to each other. A wise man once told me that variety is the spice of life. As a young whipper snapper I didn't quite grasp the full meaning of what I was told. As I grew older those words made more and more sense as I explored life. Variety encompasses many different aspects of life, but what we are going to concentrate on is specifically the variety of Sizes and Shapes. I knew you guys were thinking what I thought as a young man, but lets get your minds out of the gutter. Even though people are a perfect example of the variety of sizes and shapes, let's concentrate on sizes and shapes in general. For today's theme, post songs that have a size or shape in the title of a song, album names, and in the names of artists/bands. To help us along with this idea, here are a few Keywords to look for: Apple , Ballon , Big , Circle , Cross , Diamond , Fat , Great , Heart , Large , Line , Point , Plane , Ray , Round , Shape , Sector , Short , Small , Square , Star , Super , Thin , Tiny , Wide , etc. One last thing before we open the doors. Please have fun and follow VVV's Golden Rules.
Spent all day racking my brain, trying to come up with a theme for tonight's thread. Still haven't come up with anything, so let's all just do our own thing and play some of our favorite songs. I'll start with this one. Please Recommend! chillax ~ verb [intransitive] to rest and relax, often by taking time away from work to do things you enjoy Well, the holiday and the craziness that goes with it are behind us and most are headed back to work tomorrow. Let's end the long weekend by settling in and listening to chill and mellow tunes...
We all know songs that put us in that altered state...for me, Rush has quite a few...
And, since the cat is already out of the bag...it's my birthday today. If you want to post any tune(s) that you know I like...feel free. Finally, if you want to go off thread; our policy is to hang you at dawn. Hehehe...no...us?...come on! Share any tune in your arsenal. My motto is "If you want to play it, odds are someone else wants to hear it!" Besides, I'm way too full to chase anybody right now! Musicians are like old friends who allow us to see different ways of being in this world, and when they leave this mortal coin, we mourn. Thought we could spend a few hours paying tribute to some of those old friends who are gone. I'll start things off by paying tribute to a few of my favorites. Little Richard was one of the pioneers of Rock 'N' Roll. He gave up his ghost on May 9 of this year. I hope he's leading the Angel Choir in some rowdy renditions of his greatest hits. Dave Greenfield played the keys with The Stranglers. He also gave up his ghost this year, just six days before we lost Little Richard. Although we tend to focus on Rock 'N' Roll at the Triple V, I think most of us also appreciate other musical styles. On that note, I'd like to say goodbye to my favorite pianist, McCoy Tyner. Mr. Tyner left this mortal coil on March 6 of this year. He may be best known for his work with John Coltrane. As much as I love Mr. Coltrane, it is Mr. Tyner's playing on this recording that sends shivers up and down my spine. Then there is John Prine, who left us in April. Mr. Prine will always have a special place in my heart. Let's not limit ourselves to 2020 when paying tribute to those who have gone on. December was also the month when we lost two of Rock's most eccentric geniuses, Frank Zappa in 1993 and Captain Beefheart in 2010. Please Recommend! OK! Now that we're fat and happy after the Christmas goodies, it's time to transition back to reality whatever that is these days! Today we're going with Classic Rock and Blues and any kind of music that will shake us out of our sugar and turkey comas... songs to get your feet moving even if it's only to go over to the fridge for more libations and snicky snacks. Post your favorite tunes today. We want to hear them and so do your neighbors, so PLAY THEM LOUD!!!!! Since it's Festivus, you can air your grievances about your gifs- socks again? LOL or we can just enjoy the music and chit chat.. Peace, Love & Rock n Roll !
Christmas Day is here. I hope you're all enjoying the season and sharing it as much as possible with loved ones. Today we are going to have an open thread. Post some more Christmas songs if you aren't sick of them and throw in some funny classic Christmas videos and gifs. If you want to share what you got for Christmas or what Christmas means to you we can do that too. RULES FOR GETTING THRU CHRISTMAS *1. Avoid carrot sticks. Anyone who puts carrots on a holiday buffet table knows nothing of the Christmas spirit. In fact, if you see carrots, leave immediately. Go next door, where they’re serving rum balls. *2. Drink as much eggnog as you can. And quickly. Like fine single-malt scotch-it’s rare. In fact, it’s even rarer than single-malt scotch. You can’t find it any other time of the year but now. So drink up! Who cares that it has 10,00 calories in every sip? It’s not as if you’re going to turn into an eggnog-aholic or something. It’s a treat. Enjoy it. Have one for me. Have two. It’s later than you think. It’s Christmas. *3. If something comes with gravy, use it. That’s the whole point of gravy. Gravy does not stand alone. Pour it on. Make a volcano out of your mashed potatoes. Fill it with gravy. Eat the volcano. Repeat. *4. As for mashed potatoes, always ask if they’re made with skim milk or whole milk. If it’s skim, pass. Why bother? It’s like buying a sports car with an automatic transmission. *5. Do not have a snack before going to a party in an effort to control your eating. The whole point of going to a Christmas party is to eat other people’s food for free. And lots of it! HELLO!!!! *6. Under no circumstances should you exercise between now and New Year’s. You can do that in January when you have nothing else to do. This is the time for long naps, which you’ll need after circling the buffet table while carrying a 10-pound plate of food and a vat of eggnog. *7. If you come across something really good at a buffet table, like frosted Christmas cookies in the shape and size of Santa, position yourself near them and don’t budge. Have as many as you can before becoming the center of attention. They’re like a beautiful pair of shoes, if you leave them behind, you will never see them again. *8. Same for pies. Apple. Pumpkin. Mincemeat. Have a slice of each. Or, if you don’t like mincemeat, have two apple and one pumpkin. Always have three. When else do you get to have more than one dessert? Labor Day? *9. Did someone mention fruitcake? Granted, it’s loaded with the mandatory celebratory calories, but avoid it all cost. For the love of pete! Have some standards. *10. One final tip: If you don’t feel terrible when you leave the party or get up from the table, you haven’t been paying attention. Reread tips: start over, but hurry; January is just around the corner. *****Remember this motto to live by: ******* LIFE SHOULD NOT BE A JOURNEY TO THE GRAVE WITH THE INTENTION OF ARRIVING SAFELY IN AN ATTRACTIVE AND WELL-PRESERVED BODY, BUT RATHER TO SKID IN SIDEWAYS, CHOCOLATE IN ONE HAND, MARTINI IN THE OTHER, BODY THOROUGHLY USED UP, TOTALLY WORN OUT AND SCREAMING “WOO HOO! WHAT A RIDE!!!” Have a safe and peaceful Christmas and enjoy every second. All good things to every one of you and thank you for being here. VVV has been an oasis in a turbulent sea of unpredictable twists and turns but this place is the one thing i can count on to be here when i want it and need it. Let's relax today and polish off some food and drinks and sugary goodies. Tomorrow we'll be back to VVV Classic Rock...
Well...it's that time of the year again! The Vintage Vinyl Video's annual Christmas party. We've all come a long way this year and I think the best Christmas gift we could give each other is songs from better times. You know...when cruising in our 70's Camaro was all we needed... Think of it as YOUR Christmas tune wish list. What are your favorites? I really don't even care if they "drift" off the Rock genre tonight...have at it. My gift to you. I've been know to post a few...I love this song....can't help it! For me I'll be chillin with some eggnog...cough cough...hehehe...and letting my mind drift...the songs that bring me back...
Finally...it's a Christmas party! Break 'em out...all of them. Let's get them all out of our system 'en mass! Even the cheesy ones.
So...sit back and share the music...like the boss says "You know you want to!" Here at The V, we want to thank you all for songs you've all shared with us. Especially, this past year. Like I said...we've come a long way...and who know what's next? But...we have our friends, family and music. Yea...I can live with that. Happy Holidays...from all of us and ours to all of you and yours! My apologies to all you Rock-A-Maniacs for the postponement of todays thread. When I first joined VVV a few years back I was on dayshift, but got bumped to nights about a year ago. Its usually not a problem because I have great work partners and I am able to take my long lunch anytime I want. But, last night we had a major breakdown that required all hands on deck until the department was up and running. Hence the postponement of Wednesday's Edition of VVV. Without much time to put any thought into a thread, I am issuing an Open Thread. So today, post any Rock tunes you wish to share including Christmas Rock tunes. Post Christmasy memes, pics, or gifs. Tell us about your favorite Rock concert you attended or if you have any Christmas stories of your past to share, that would Rock too! Please have fun and follow VVV's Golden Rules.
