Howdy, and Good Sunday Evening my Triple V Peeps! It's easy to feel like you're coming and going when your weekend's almost galloped away and it'll be time to return to the zoo tomorrow. We're gonna try to get you ready to deal with the denizens of your workplace, or if you're out to pasture already just have a good time and chew the cud with some great music and old & new friends! Whether they trot, run, gallop, fly, crawl, creep, slither, or sneak up on ya and poop in yer shoes, it's time for a nod to the only intelligent creatures on the planet - The Animal Kingdom, and Insects and Arachnids are cool too! Song titles, band names, and what-have-you are all fair game on this one. No, we won't ask you to take an oath here. All we ask is that you respect our rules and one another and have one heck of a good time with us! It's always an Open Thread, so if you're not happy with the theme or you have some other music you'd like to share, feel free! All memes, gifs, jokes, and especially concert stories are not only welcomed but encouraged too! With all of the craziness going on in our world today, VVV is one of the last bastions of sanity (yes, things have really gotten that bad) on the internet. Let us be your refuge from it, and maybe, just maybe, the great Classic Rock music that we all love and the good spirits that dwell here can at least make a dent in the madness. I'd like to think so anyway. Don't be a crab...
The Peace and Love Era gave us a magic bus load of great music from talented artists. The Who, The Stones, Cream, Elvis, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, The Beach Boys, The Doors, Aretha Franklin, The Kinks, Ray Charles, The Animals, CCR, Grateful Dead, James Brown, Smokey Robinson, The Righteous Bros., The Shirelles and Ike and Tina Phew! You get the idea. I am not sure if it was the drugs or not but the creativity of musicians and artists was at an all time 'high'. Back when 'lay it on me" and 'give me some skin" meant totally different things than they do today and a troll was a doll with hair like Don King. The people were groovy and the music scene was outta sight!!!!! Of course, most of those flower children have grown up to become the establishment they once rejected but we can still enjoy the good vibes from the musical gold they left behind. As always the theme is a jumping off point so if you're not diggin' the 1960's theme, that's a bummer but you can just play whatever turns you on. We would love to hear it. Peace!!! So today let us revisit trains; I know it has been done before but there are so many. Post songs about anything related to trains. If there are songs about trams, streetcars, or subways, please post the those too. I looked into it a bit because I wondered about why others thought there was so many songs about trains and railroads. Sister Rosetta Tharpe showed up first: This Train Then there was the song that my fourth grade teacher would not allow us to play during a class party. Either she did not want us to consider train travel (mTaybe she had oil company investments) or she was overwhelmed by visions of what might go on in the cloakroom if we took the song to heart: The Locomotion-Grands Funk Railroad And John Henry is legend; some interpretations would likely have led my fourth grade teacher to frown a bit. There are many versions (post your favoriite). Van Morrison's version of John Henry: J.J. Cale's delivery is always smooth. Lonesome Train: I am have spent most of my life on the US west coast and so I saw many trains of the Southern Pacific. Neil Young: Trains have been a subject of songs for decades-there are tons of them. Share why you think this is so (or not). Please recommend, discuss, follow rules and finally the caboose: have fun!
G'evening my friends! For tonight's thread, let's break out all the songs and bands that have a number in the title. What could be easier?
And let's throw in all the ones with Number, Count, Add, Last, To and Too to the medley... Of course, any funny gifs or memes you have would be appreciated. After all, a smile and a laugh is the best cure for what ails ya! Now it's your turn. Post up and have fun. And if you want to drift off thread...that's cool too! Rules are for grown-ups and the whole point of Triple V is to find that part of yourself that never never grew up. Do us a favor. Just treat each other with same respect you would expect for yourselves. Well...and play some cool tunes. That's why we're here! This theme kind of made itself. We've had a request from one of VVV's favorite rockin' ladies, to dedicate a thread to all women and today just so happens to be National Women's Equality Day! How cool is tha! So lets give credit where credit is due. Kudos to Commenter, this gal Rocks! What our music loving gal is asking for is that we post songs about Girls/Women, Girl Names, and post songs by Girl Singers and Girl Bands. Ya dig! So, if you don't dig chick's, that aint cool, but its legal. VVV is always an open thread. Meaning, if you dont dig the theme you are free to post whatever Rock tunes you wish to share. Post funny memes, pics, or gifs. If you ever seen a woman artist or an all girl band, tell us about it. We love hearing all concert going stories. They Rock! Just got one last thing to say before we get to Rockin'. Be cool to chicks, have fun, and follow VVV's Golden Rules. A very special shout out to a kickass gal, Commenter for this most excellent rockin' idea for tonight's thread! PLEASE RECCOMEND Thought we could rebel against all this social distancing and devote a thread to dance. That means posting songs about dancing... Songs that make you want to dance... And songs about a particular type of dance. Also, just for fun, let's toss in some songs about jumping, running and walking. As always, it's an open thread at The Triple V, so if your feet hurt or you're just not in the mood for dancing then play whatever songs will lift your spirits. Please Recommend! Good Sunday evening again, my friends here at VVV. The weekend's winding down once more, but let's kiss it goodbye with a smile if we can. The theme tonight is just what it says - no, not you personally (but if you wanna divulge any personal info we'll keep it here in the strictest confidence...LOL), but where people fit in their families, the workplace, and life in general. Fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, cousins, spouses, exes, bosses, employees, job titles, professions, and anything else you can think of in both the song titles and/or content of the song. Everyone fits somewhere and does something, and even if they don't they still do, as long as they're still alive and a member of the Human Race. I don't wanna get all philosophical, so let's start throwing some tunes down. I think this topic is wide open! We don't ask much of you here at VVV, just respect our rules and each other, post the coolest Rock songs that you possibly can, and have one heck of a good time doing it! If the theme doesn't suit you, we run an Open Thread here all the time, so feel free to share songs you'd like us to hear. Your concert stories, memes, gifs, bad puns, and dumb jokes are both welcomed and appreciated too! Have a heart and please Recommend us.
Sorry for the late post, we had a mixup, my bad. Anyhow, with little time to think of a theme and getting late gave me an idea. Tonight's theme will have to do with Night Time, Darkness, and Creatures of the Night. To help us along with this idea, here are a few Keywords: After Hours , Bat , Bonfire , Dark , Dusk - Dawn , Early Morning , Evening , Fire Fly , Gloom , Late , Middle of the Night , Midnight , Moon , Owl , Raccoon , Rat , Shadow , Spider , Sundown , Sunset , Twilight , Wolf , etc If Rockin after dark ain't your thang, I can dig that! Do not fret, VVV is always an open thread. Meaning, post whatever Rock & Roll you wish to share. Post memes, gif, or pics of funny stuff. Or tell us about a memorable concert you attended. Those Rock! Whatever you do, make sure you have fun and follow VVV's Golden Rules. PLEASE RECOMMEND Mahalia Jackson, a gospel singer was deeply influenced by the blues as were singers from all genres, including rock bands like the Stones and Pink Floyd, said 'Anybody singing the blues is in a deep pit yelling for help." I think that goes for singers from most genres. Some people's voices come from a place that many people do not ever want to go. Perhaps they sing to purge themselves of the memories and thoughts but instead of being healed, sometimes hell's magnet only drags them down deeper. Drugs and other self-destructive behavioral choices temporarily dull the pain but many succumb and join the 27 club, that is the large number of rock stars who died at age 27 or shortly afterwards. Today let's post songs by singers we will never get to see in concert again or the singers we wish we could have seen live. I would have loved to see Amy sing live. I did see Bowie 3 times. Still one of my favorites. Damn! I didn't get to see either of these guys live. What can we say about Bon Scott? So the theme is rock greats that are no longer with us. Lucky for us we have their music. It's always open thread here on VVV so if'n you're not into the 27 Club, just post your favorite rock songs and videos. We'd love to hear them. Be good to each other and to yourself. Peace Love and Rock n Roll!!!
