Here we have two subjects of infinity. Numbers, of course are infinite. Colors, as far as I am concerned are infinite too. There are new colors invented everyday. You take any known color, let's say, "Magma Red". You splash in a little green and bam, you just changed the color. Add a even more green and you have changed the color, again! We could go on and on, forever! Drawing off that little revelation about numbers and colors, post songs that have a number or a color in the title of the song, band/artist name, or album name. If worrying about numbers and colors during your Rock session is a drag, I can dig that! Do not fret, VVV is always an open thread. Post whatever Rock tunes you wish to share. Post funny memes, pics, or gifs. Tell us about one of your fondest concert going memories. Those always rock! One last thing before we start the new week off. Please have fun and follow VVV's Golden Rules. 𝓟𝓵𝓮𝓪𝓼𝓮 𝓡𝓮𝓬𝓸𝓶𝓶𝓮𝓷𝓭

I couldn't pick just one letter so let's post videos by bands with names and song titles that start with W T and or F! Let's get this weekend started! We're one day closer to summer. Woo Hoo! I hope you're all staying safe and well and as sane as possible in these times. Thanks for hangin out with us here on VVV where we rock 24 -7-365. Peace Love and Rock n Roll!
As in putting some cover songs up on the playlist. Sometimes a song is so good that other musicians want to cover it. Sometimes the cover ends up being better than the original. Other times it might not be better, but it brings something new to the original. I'll kick things off with a few of my favorite covers. ~~~~~ It's hard to get one over on Big Mama Thornton, but Elvis managed to add a little extra something to his cover of 'Hound Dog' to make it interesting. 'Respect' may be Aretha Franklin's most popular cover song, but my favorite is her version of 'The Weight', originally by The Band. Sister Re owns this one. Add Duane Allman's funky guitar and you have a winning combination. As much as I love the original by Dr. John, Johnny Jenkins brings a sizzle to his cover of 'I Walk On Guilded Splinters' that makes it the best version ever. Part of that sizzle comes from Duane Allman, who also played guitar on Jenkins' version. More than a few musicians have covered Chuck Berry's 'Little Queenie', but no one does it better than Luther 'Snakeboy' Johnson. You can dang near feel the grit. Grit also describes The New York Dolls version of Bo Diddley's 'Pills', plus a whole lot of junkie angst. Bring on the Rock 'N' Roll nurse! Never was a fan of David Bowie's version of 'Heroes' but Motörhead's cover brings a desperation to the song that allowed me to hear it in a new way. 'Wanted Man' was written by Bob Dylan for Johnny Cash, who recorded it for his live at San Quentin album. Nick Cave took the song and made it campy and depraved as only he can do. Not to be outdone, Johnny Cash took 'Hurt' by Nine Inch Nails' and showed Trent Reznor how to do pain. Richard Thompson wrote and recorded '1952 Vincent Black Lightning' in 1991. Ten years later, Del McCoury took that song and made it his own. And finally, you gotta love a Polka version of Billy Idol's 'White Wedding'. Don't laugh! Polkaholix does it justice. So raise a beer and put on your Polka Face. It sure does beat 'The Chicken Dance'. Remember, it's always an open thread at The Triple V. Feel like playing songs by the original artists? Go for it! Recommend! Ok, let's unplug our git-fiddles and other electrical music components and get down to the nitty gritty of Rock & Roll. Yes, I said, Rock & Roll! Just because we are going acoustic today, doesn't mean we are resigned to Country, Bluegrass, Folk, and Blues. Not a chance! There are plenty of acoustical Rock tunes and sets to exploit. Post songs featuring acoustic instruments, be it an acoustic guitar or an acoustical set. If unplugging your amps gets your underwear all up in a wad, I can dig that! Do not fret, VVV is always an open thread. Post whatever Rock tunes you wish to share. Post funny memes, pics, or gifs. Tell us about one of your favorite concert going experiences. Those always rock! One last thing before we pull the fuses. Please have fun and follow VVV's Golden Rules. 𝒫𝐿𝐸𝒜𝒮𝐸 𝑅𝐸𝒞𝒪𝑀𝑀𝐸𝒩𝒟 |
