With the advent of the electric guitar, it didn't take long for keyboard players to get onboard too in the early days of Rock-N-Roll. The piano, organ, and later the electric piano and Moog synthesizer all found a valued place in Rock as well, and they complemented the guitar ( and vice versa) quite nicely. We'll be highlighting them all in this thread, so crack yer knuckles and let's get going!

Most mammals and quite a few species of birds are capable of learning by trial and error. There are, however, limits to what other species may consider worthy of learning. Not so with the human animal. That's because we have something that other animals lack. We have imaginations. We are the animal that tells stories. It may even be that we have a story-telling gene; that we are hardwired to do so. Imagination is why we have music. It is why our ancestors began to make drums and flutes in order to mimic the sounds of nature, and later why they built cities and created instruments that could mimic the sounds of the streets. It is also why we have concepts like good and evil, love and hate, war and peace, sadness and contentment. So play songs that tell a story, that fire up your imagination, that sing about the creative impulse or explore the human condition. In a way this is an open thread so take it where you will. Just be sure to use your imagination. I'll start things off with a song about the human condition by a most imaginative singer and songwriter. Recommend! Yep, we are going to piggy back off of yesterday's theme of the electric guitar. Don't worry, there are plenty of tunes featuring the acoustic that still have electric guitars shredding away within the songs. What I really like about acoustical songs is they tend to be story telling songs. Kinda like this one............ Hehehehehe I really like that one. It kinda sums up the year. Aanyhow, today post Rock tunes that feature an acoustic guitar. It doesn't have to be an acoustical set, just as long as there is an acoustic guitar in the music. Post songs like these........ If acoustical jams are not you bag, I can dig that! Do not fret, VVV is always an open thread. Meaning, post whatever Rock tunes you wish to share. Post funny memes, pics, or gifs. Tell us about your favorite Rock concert. Those always Rock! One last thing before we start strummin'. Please have fun and follow VVV's Golden Rules. PLEASE RECOMMEND Never has an instrument dominated modern music as much as the electric guitar has. From Country, Rockabilly, Rock-N-Roll, Blues, and Jazz, the electric guitar is everywhere! The idea for an amplified guitar came about because of the low volume of acoustic guitars - the other instruments simply drowned them out. There were crude prototypes at first, but American ingenuity in the names of Adolph Rickenbacker, Orville Gibson, and Leo Fender got it off the ground and into the hands of guitar players everywhere. The rest is history. Get out your favorite axemen and let's get going! (For a complete history of electric guitars, copy and paste this link into your browser - https://www.encyclopedia.com/literature-and-arts/performing-arts/music-history/electric-guitar ) It's Open Thread if you don't wanna play guitar-oriented stuff - just stick with your favorite Rock tunes, respect our House Rules and one another, and have yourself a great time! This weekend's thread is all about summer and dogs and the heat. Don't forget to ensure your furry friends have enough cool water to drink and lots of shade. You can always take them for a swim. They like that as much as we do. Surf's up!!! I'm not going to complain about the heat at all. It was a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooong winter and I'm ready to live outside for the summer and fall too. Get outdoors and get some sun and fresh air on your face. It will do you good my pretties -and take your little dog too. Have a great weekend. Peace, Love and Rock n Roll!
Today's theme is occupations. What do you want to be when you grow up? What do you do for money, honey? Jobs you had, jobs you want, jobs love, jobs you hate. that's what it's all about. If'n you don't like the theme, that's ok! We're easy to get along with and we are always open thread here on VVV..... Have a great weekend. Peace Love and Rock n Roll. Wanted: Moderators for VVV. Good hours, great pay and perks, company car, trips and expense accounts and you can work from home.... OK!!!! Good evening, my friends. Lets free ourselves from the bonds of time and travel throughout time. Tonight it's all about moments in time. There are absolutes...
Specifics...
Even vague references... So pick a point in time, strap yourself in and travel. Forward, ahead...whatever you want. And if you would rather go in another direction, then have at it! It's always "open mic" night here at Triple V and we never judge. Play good tunes, post up funny gifs and most of all...have fun. That's the whole point! Let's face it, some things can not be accomplished alone. Some things require multiple people, animals, members, or even objects to be of use. A band can not be a band with one musician. A flock can not be so with one bird. A traffic jam doesn't happen with just one car on the road. Are you catching my drift? Ya feelin' me? Post songs whos title consists of multiples of people places and things. Even words that describe many, like: Group, herd, or Army, etc. Post songs like these : We're An American Band The Boys Are Back In Town Wolfpack If you're not good with others and rather go it alone, I can dig that! Do not fret, VVV is always an open thread. Meaning, post whatever Rock tunes you wish to share. Post funny memes, pics, or gifs. Tell us about your favorite Rock concert. Those Rock the most! Before we get started remember to have fun and folow VVV'S Golden Rules. PLEASE RECOMMEND |
