Hello again, everyone. Another day, another....vowel? Ok.....crappy joke. But I’m sure you’re catching onto what today’s topic will be. Today we are focusing on the vowel. I would get into technicalities as to what a vowel is, but it honestly won’t figure into what I’m asking you to do. But here is one definition I found anyway, just in case you’re curious: A vowel is a particular kind of speech sound made by changing the shape of the upper vocal tract, or the area in the mouth above the tongue. Or my favorite definition: A, E, I, O, U, and sometimes Y. However, W is also known to sometimes function as a vowel, so it counts. Try to find any songs that begin with any of these letters. Simple enough. Extra points if you can find songs with all five main vowels in the title. As always, you do not have to participate in the topic if you are not interested. It’s an open thread, so you can post what you like (within the guidelines). Enjoy.

It’s a staple of rock. We love it.....we hate it. Either way, you have to accept it. Yes...I’m taking about the power ballad. Hello everyone. Today we are going to focus on power ballads. We know what those are, but to clarify anyway, they are usually defined by over-the-top sappy lyrics sung by a pleading, tormented protagonist. However, I will accept pretty much any song that sounds emotional, earnest, and epic (my loose definition). As always, you are always free to post what you like, as this is an open thread. Just make sure to enjoy yourself.
Good evening and happy Saturday, Triple V! Today while I was running errands, I heard the following three songs in succession… Townshend, Page and Van Halen! I should have probably apologized to the poor old woman that was sitting next to me at the light. I couldn’t help it. I love those guys that eat frets for breakfast! Tonight, it’s all about the “six string” boys…and girls… Let’s pull out all the tunes that feature the jamming guitarists that make Rock and Roll what it is! Don’t stop there, we’re an open minded kinda place so post up all the great tunes you have in your arsenal. Don’t be shy! Oh yea…remember to hit the recommend button and tag your friends. I cooked a huge batch of chili today and we can’t eat it all! LOL! Many songs have been written about mythical creatures, legends and famous and infamous historical figures, real or not. Show us your favorites. Godzilla Led Zep: Achilles Last Stand Iron Maiden: Flight of Icarus Wizards, dragons, maidens, cleopatra, zeus, madusa, mermaids, gods and goddesses , comic book superheroes just to get you started.
As always, if the theme doesn't grab you, it's open thread every day, all day so just post your favorite videos and pics and stuff...we would love to see and hear them. FEEL FREE TO SING ALONG AND DANCE............ YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO!!!!! ;-) "You were the one who made things different, you were the one who took me in. You were the one thing I could count on, above all, you were my friend." - Tom Petty I don't have a girlfriend. But I do know a woman who'd be mad at me for saying that. Mitch Hedberg (1968 - 2005) As always the theme is just a suggestion. Please post any and all Rock and Roll type songs that you think others might enjoy. We’re always OPEN THREAD here.
Good evening my friends. Tonight, I was thinking about when groups break up, and people move on to solo careers. Happens for a lot of reasons. Some natural, some unnatural. Some don’t exactly end up well… And sometimes it’s to play a spot with a MEGA BAND… Any way you slice it…it’s been going on forever…. So, let’s post up songs from the bands they played with and the guys/gals that walked away. Let's not forget those mega bands! Now hang on, if that’s not what yer into tonight, that’s cool too. Post up the songs you want to hear…and I’m sure someone will else will enjoy them. As always, we only ask two things here at Triple V…mind your manners and play good tunes. One last thing, please recommend and tag your friends. The more the merrier! TWell, it's always about the Rock & Rock, so here we go! Today we are going to play songs about things rising and/or falling or songs with a word in the title of something that can rise and/or fall. I'll throw some example keywords down: Water , Smoke , Balloons , Speed , Sound , Gases , Prices , Bread , Pressure , Heat , Spirit , Rain , Snow , Night , Sun , Moon , Leaves , etc. If you are not hip to things rising and falling and you wish they would stay right where they are at, I can dig that! Do not fret, VVV is always an open thread. Just come on in and join the party! Play whatever Rock & Roll you like, but you get extra VVV points for Classic Rock vids! One last thing. We dont ask much from you, except that you have fun and follow the Golden Rules. PLEASE RECOMMEND Rock n Roll Heaven is loaded with talented musicians and the supply down here on Earth is sadly lacking. Luckily the good ones left us with a cornucopia of timeless classics. Post your favorites. Don't forget the infamous 27 Club. It's a club you don't want to join. Stars that burned too brightly. Robert Johnson's story is interesting to say the least. This man influenced many of today's greatest rock bands including Led Zep, Rolling Stones and the Allman Bros. You can't love rock without loving the blues. Robert Johnson was rumored to have sold his soul to the devil in exchange for talent and fame and the cause of his death at 27 is still mystery. Some say he was shot dead, some say he was poisoned at a bar and others say he had a deadly disease. One thing for sure, his music did not die. Today we're paying tribute to those great singers and musicians who we have lost. If you don't like the theme- you're banned! LOL I kid, in that case, just post your favorite classic rock songs or songs from any genre that is within our guidelines. We're always open thread . feel free to sing along and dance-- YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO!!!
Hey everyone! Here we are again, at the same place we see each other every week! How about that? Lol....enough silliness. Well, actually, the silliness is just beginning, depending on how you see it... Tonight I’ve decided I’m going to pick 21 random words, and you guys are going to find songs with those words in the title. I’ll try not to get too dumb with it. So here we go... Hurt, Angel, Two, Back, Music, Water, Good, Sweet, Fight, Green, Jump, Game, Turkey, Dark, Cat, Funk, Heart, Land, Christmas, Up, and Hell. As always, if you’re not into it, you’re free to turn your back to me and post what you want (within reason) as this is an open thread. Enjoy.
Everyone loves Classic Rock, but what is Classic Rock? The words are so overused, I think we need a ruling here. This is the best definition I could find (and I really looked)… 'Classic rock is a genre of music that combines a particular guitar-driven rock sound with a particular era of time. The classic rock era began in early 1960's with rock n' roll based bands like The Beatles and Rolling Stones, diversifying into bands like Led Zeppelin and The Doors. The classic rock era ended in the early 80s, with the rise of modern pop music. It should not be confused with other rock genres like glam rock (e.g. David Bowie), heavy metal (e.g. Ozzy Osbourne and Metallica) and hair metal (e.g. Poison and Motley Crue). Even though new bands sometimes mimic the classic rock sound (e.g. The Black Crowes), they are not considered a true classic rock band because they are in the wrong era (not early 60s to early 80s). However, classic rock bands from the original era who still produce new music outside of that classic rock era (like The Rolling Stones) are grandfathered in and are still defined as classic rock (as long as their style hasn't changed). Well, now…I do believe we have a thread in the making! Let’s enjoy our weekend with the dulcet tones of Classic Rock… Here at Triple V, we welcome all forms of music but Classic Rock is what we’re all about. If you want to introduce us to something new, please do. Something I’ve said from the beginning…”If you want to play it, odds are someone else wants to hear it!” |
