Today, a component of the U.S. Army, the National Guard serves both community and country, for domestic emergencies and even for combat abroad. Happy Birthday National Guard Post songs about national pride and serving and protecting your country and her citizens. Good morning all and welcome back to Joe's Garage. We covered the 60's pretty well...so now let's take a look at the 70's. Rock and Roll was starting to form into the genres we all grew to know and love. The rockers of the 60's were still going strong, but some new bands were breaking into the scene...
It was age of Smokey and The Bandit and everyone wanted that black Firebird! So break out your bell bottoms and pop an 8-track into the player. Post up all the 70's music you've got! And if for some reason you can't come up with a 70's tune, no worries. Just play whatever. We don't mind if you go off thread, just play something cool. Grab a seat on the couch and make yourself at home. Now...are you ready? Let's go! Joe's Garage is open... Courtesy of Vintage Vinyl Video The Peace and Love Era gave us a magic bus load of great music from talented artists. The Who, The Stones, Cream, Elvis, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, The Beach Boys, The Doors, Aretha Franklin, The Kinks, Ray Charles, The Animals, CCR, Grateful Dead, James Brown, Smokey Robinson, The Righteous Bros., The Shirelles and Ike and Tina Phew! You get the idea. I am not sure if it was the drugs or not but the creativity of musicians and artists was at an all time 'high'. Back when 'lay it on me" and 'give me some skin" meant totally different things than they do today and a troll was a doll with hair like Don King. The people were groovy and the music scene was outta sight!!!!! Of course, most of those flower children have grown up to become the establishment they once rejected but we can still enjoy the good vibes from the musical gold they left behind. As always the theme is a jumping off point so if you're not diggin' the 1960's theme, that's a bummer but you can just play whatever turns you on. We would love to hear it. Peace!!!
December's full moon is called the Long Night Moon. Other names include the Cold Moon, Hoar Frost Moon, the Snow Moon and the Moon Of Popping Trees. It's all about the moon tonight. So dance, howl and play some tunes. Add a few songs about stars and other night lights if you wish... or songs about anything else. As you know, it's always an open thread at The Triple V. Recommend! Seeing how this thread will run through Wednesday December 7th, we are dediicating this piece to that fateful day in 1941, the heroes who fought and died for this great country, and to America and the freedom and liberty she provides us all. Post songs about war and peace, heroes alive and dead, and about the freedoms and liberties our heroes preserved for us. To help us along, also post songs with any of these Keywords in the title of the songs: Attack , Blue , Boat , Bomb , Crew , Death , Destroy , Enemy , Fire , Hero , Honor , Island , Jet , Justice , Kill , Loss , Ocean , Plane , Radar , Red , Remember , Rescue , Sabotage , Sacrifice , Sea , Ship , Shock , Sink , Skies , Sorrow , Survivor , Torpedo , War , Water , White , Zero. If songs about war and peace bring you down, do not fret. VVV is always an open thread. Meaning, post whatever Rock tunes you wish to share. Post funny memes, pics, or gifs. Tell us about your favorite Rock concert you have experienced. Those always Rock! One last thing before we start. Please have fun and follow VVV's Golden Rules. PLEASE RECOMMEND Good evening and welcome back to Joe's Garage! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. So...what is "Classic Rock"? I've seen lots of definitions of the phrase, most of which I disagree with. To limit Classic Rock to the 60's and 70's is a major disservice to the 80's and 90's. After all...Little Guitars was recorded in '82 and Spoonman in '94...both over 25 years ago! Ripping riffs, pounding percussions, badass base and a memorable voice to bring it all together. They have to be considered Classic Rock now...
Recently I stumbled across this definition and I give it my full support! "The classic rock genre encompasses rock music made over four decades, from '60s psychedelia and ’70s album-oriented rock (AOR) to 1980s college rock, heavy metal, and 1990s grunge. Most classic rock songs are guitar-driven, and the genre has many guitar heroes—from Jimi Hendrix to Jeff Beck to Eddie Van Halen. Classic rock bands are also known for iconic lead singers, from Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones to Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin to Axl Rose of Guns N' Roses."
Good stuff, right? This weekend lets get back to our roots. After all, Triple V was designed to be a Classic Rock haven. Post up anything you consider to be Classic Rock. Now hang on...you know me...if you want to drift off thread, then that's OK too! Hangin' out in my Garage only requires two things...good tunes and having fun. So sit back, relax and make yourself at home. Here it comes...(in my best "deep voice")... Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls...Joe's Garage is open! Courtesy of Vintage Vinyl Video |
