I was trying to come up with a theme for Easter weekend when I came across a story about a Medieval fad that involved drawing killer rabbits in the margins of manuscripts. Why killer rabbits? Who knows, but it does appeal to my love of oddities. Because it is Easter weekend, I was thinking we could post songs that deal with those things we associate with the holiday; flowers, spring, rebirth and renewal, lambs, eggs, chicks, and yes, rabbits, killers or otherwise. The full moon is also associated with Easter. It is the first full moon after the Spring Equinox that determines when Easter Sunday is celebrated. That's why one of the names for the full moon in April is the Paschal Moon. Other names include the Pink Moon, Breaking Ice Moon, Budding Moon, Frog Moon, Sucker Fish Moon, Duck Moon and Goose Moon. Although we prefer to avoid religion and politics at the Triple V, there is no denying that Easter is about faith in higher powers. I don't think anyone would mind if a few old spirituals are played. This is one of my favorites. It appeals to my rural sensibilities. Naturally, it's always an open thread at The Triple V. If rabbits, full moons or spirituals don't do it for you, then post songs about whatever tickles your fancy. Might even decide to post a few songs about kitchen sinks. Recommend (or run away!)
